BAKERHICKS ADD TO PAN-EUROPEAN LEADERSHIP TEAM WITH SENIOR APPOINTMENT IN GERMANY

BakerHicks, the multi-disciplinary design, engineering and project delivery company, have appointed Gerald Mathe to the newly created role of Head of Germany to further strengthen its capabilities and expertise in the region.

The appointment follows the recent rebranding of the company’s European Life Sciences division, which joined forces with the UK operation under the name, BakerHicks. This comes as part of the company’s strategy to deliver an integrated service to their UK and European Life Sciences clients, with a particular strengthening of their engineering technical leadership, project management capabilities and the ability to deliver all size of capex projects.

In his new role, Gerald will lead the team in Germany, developing new business opportunities where BakerHicks’ core design and engineering skills can be used to maximum effect. He will ensure the business strategy for Germany is aligned with the strategic direction of the company, whilst working closely with technical teams for the continued delivery of high-quality, innovative project solutions across the region.

As a single point of contact, his immediate priority will be to further develop the company’s relationships with their customers across the key life sciences and industry sectors, with a particular focus on process technology, qualification and compliance. Gerald will additionally be responsible for any strategic recruits into the team, to strengthen existing capability in line with client needs.

Gerald joined BakerHicks in 2017 as Senior Manager for Aseptics and GMP. He was appointed as Regional Manager for Germany North in 2019 and has over 30 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and life sciences industries. A mechanical, control and automation engineer by trade, he also has a strong background in environmental protection and business management. Prior to joining BakerHicks, he spent 20 years at Boehringher Ingelheim in roles including Project Manager, Head of Process Management, and most recently as Senior Manager for Platform Technology.

Speaking on his appointment, Gerald said: “These are exciting times for the business, we are rapidly developing a strong reputation within the German market as a reliable partner in delivering holistic solutions in the life sciences and industry sectors. And, our multi-disciplinary and yet local approach of the business gives us the ideal platform on which to build.

“The opportunities are there; we have some strong relationships with local and international clients, who are already benefiting from the agility of a full project lifecycle company. We’re brought in when our services are needed, and our teams do an exceptional job. That’s what makes these relationships work.”
